Seeking singer and bassist guitarist to start band for fun and local gigs
Hi there, I’m looking for a female singer and a male/female bassist/guitarist, both 18-26 to start a new fun band to make new friends and eventually perform at local venues. My aim is go for faster, fun sounding pop-punk styled music with a dollop of electronica to round everything out (this also gets round having no drummer). Think Bloodhound Gang or Blink 182 mixed with more synth and you’ve got the basic idea.
My name is Ian and I’m a 23 year old beginner level guitarist, bassist and very beginner synth programmer living in Montrose. I’ve done two live “gigs”, the first felt amazing and the second was a bit.......well I can explain it out better in person, and been in several small bands. Personally it’s easier to list the music I don’t listen to rather than list what I do. I listen to pretty much everything apart from hardcore rap/dance/R’n’B and metal. That doesn’t mean there aren’t exceptions, but it’s the general rule of thumb. Outside of that I enjoy playing video games, watching telly, come to think of it pretty much the normal stuff for someone my age although I am not that sporty. I would describe myself as a geek though since I watch anime, alternative cartoons (Adult Swim, Family Guy etc), and look online (when I have the internet) for cult TV shows or films to collect and watch.
I’m looking for people in the same age range, with similar interests (though not exactly the same) and a similar taste in music (very open but aimed slightly towards the punk end of things), musical skill not as important as personality as I believe it’s a better idea to form a band based on being friends and having fun than purely being into the same type of music as each other.
I’d like to start by doing a few covers (everyone involved gets their say on those, say two suggestions each) to help figure out the bands “sound” and approach and then start writing our own songs, eventually performing at local gigs/battle of the bands and potentially posting self produced music online.
Unfortunately I can’t drive yet so I’m kinda stuck using public transport for the time being. Ideally meetings would be able to be organised within the Angus area (Montrose, Arbroath, Brechin areas) but I will consider going as far as Dundee and Aberdeen particularly once I get more money coming in.
Well, if you read through this all (sorry it’s more of an essay than a short advert) and are interested then email me on ian.studionoir@googlemail.com or text me on 07988 178 880 and I’ll get back in touch as soon as I can.
