Specialized Allez Epic, full carbon tubes, circa 1994 (£180)
Here's my Specialized Allez Epic that I bought locally last year (second hand). It was made around 1994, but is in excellent condition and would be a fantastic lightweight winter trainer or standby bike.
It measures 54cm (centre to centre) along the top tube and also from the bottom bracket to the top tube. The transfers are not perfect - the bike has been well used, but also very well maintained and is in perfect working order.
It's a carbon frame (tubes fitted into aluminium joints) with aluminium forks. The bike is very strong and rides very well - I did all my Ironman training and the Ironman France race on this bike. In fact, the stickers are still on there as I've only used it once since.
I put on a new carbon seatpost (£30), respoked the rear wheel (£60), put on a larger rear cog and mech, with new chain (now 14 - 28) (£75), and new Specialized Armadillo tyres (£40).
I'll supply the original Campagnola rear mech and cog (12 - 19) with the correct chain too, incase you want it for time trialing.
The front mech and cog (39, 53) is Campagnola, as are the gear levers. The handlebars and stem are Cinelli, while the brakes and bearings in the head are Shimano 600.
